Your realistic Softball list (reach / target / safe)
Cross your measured metrics with each division's benchmark and build 15-25 schools. As a European, prioritise D2 / NAIA / JUCO.
Your list comes from crossing your real metrics (velo, exit velo, pop time, home-to-first) with each division's directional benchmark. Be honest: if your pitch velo is 56-60, your target is D2 and your safe is NAIA/JUCO, not Power-4.
Three-tier rule, over 15-25 schools:
| Tier | How your level fits | How many |
|---|---|---|
| Reach | one division above your metric | 4-6 |
| Target | your metric = division's range | 8-12 |
| Safe | your metric beats the range | 4-6 |
For a European, weight should fall on D2, NAIA and JUCO, the lowest-friction paths: NAIA has no recruiting calendar (the coach can contact you anytime, ideal if you mature late) and offers 10 equivalency scholarships; JUCO gives a 2-year runway for eligibility or level. D1 is possible but more demanding, with later contact and less funding certainty post-House.
Also filter by: your position's need that year (read the roster by graduations), the academic/SAT-TOEFL bar the university requires, and the real scholarship budget. Send a personalised email + video to each coach; a generic list does not convert.
