When a coach can contact you (Lacrosse)
In D1 a coach can't initiate contact until September 1 of junior year (11th grade), men and women. You may always reach out first.

Key D1 rule: a coach may not initiate personal contact (calls, texts, emails, DMs, recruiting materials, verbal offers) until September 1 of your junior year (11th grade). It applies to men and women. That same date, D1 official and unofficial visits open. Before that, a coach may only ask your club/high-school coach yes/no questions — no direct contact, no offers.
This Sept-1-junior rule was adopted specifically in lacrosse (2017 proposal) to curb early recruiting and was retained by the IWLCA for girls. Note: it's a D1 rule. In D2 contact is far more permissive (coaches may contact essentially anytime, outside short dead periods — there are several short ones, not just one). D3: calls/contact after sophomore year. NAIA: no timing restriction.

Most important: the rule limits the coach, not you. You/your family can email, send video, fill questionnaires and visit campuses from freshman year. As a European, start early. Re-verify the exact NCAA calendar dates each cycle (they change).
